Weather update: Admissions activities remain on schedule

After Thursday’s severe thunderstorm, a portion of the Reynolda Campus remains without electricity. University officials are waiting on Duke Energy to restore electricity to North Campus Apartments and nearby Byrum and Starling halls. Duke Energy has not yet indicated when power will return to those buildings. Phone lines are down in the Admissions office, but tours, interviews and information sessions will continue as scheduled.

Much of the campus lost power during the storm, but electricity was restored in the early evening to all but the previously mentioned buildings. Efforts continue on campus today to clean up debris and remove fallen trees and limbs.  Tree damage is responsible, in part, for the continuing power outage on the western edge of campus.

Thursday night, the University moved those occupying North Campus Apartments into Polo Residence Hall. Occupants include guests and University staff associated with summer campus and conferences on campus.

Storm-related damage may be reported to Facilities and Campus Services by calling 758-4255. Facilities staff members are aware of damage outdoors, but welcome calls about damage, particularly inside buildings, that they may not have been reported.

No one on campus was injured during the Thursday afternoon storm. Two vehicles were damaged by fallen trees or limbs.
